Hairspray Callback Auditions:

Thank you to all who auditioned for Hairspray! CLICK HERE to see the cast list!

So, you auditioned at the recent Season General Auditions
and are wondering…

What is next?
Callback auditions are scheduled throughout the season on a per-show basis. Some shows or roles will require a dance audition, but all will require cold reading and singing from the script. Sides (materials) from the script and score are provided at the callback audition only. They are not available prior to the actual scheduled callback audition.

How will I know if I am called back?
If the directors would like to see you again, you will be contacted by email and invited to the callback. The callback list is posted here on the TMP website, as well. If no email address was provided on your audition form at the generals, then TMP staff will do our best to contact you via phone.

What do I do if I am called back?
If you are called back, you must email or call TMP ASAP to let us know whether or not you will be attending the callback. If you are unable to attend, also include whether or not you are still available to be considered for the show. We must hear from you at least two business days before the scheduled callback.

What do I do if I am not called back?
Don’t worry! Hundreds of people audition for TMP every year and we work hard to place everyone as appropriately as possible. You do not need to call TMP. You may not be ideally suited to what the directors are looking for in this particular show or role, but there will certainly be more callbacks scheduled as they occur on a per show, as needed basis. And continue to work on your audition repertoire for next season!

How will I know the results of the callback auditions?
Once a show is cast, the list is posted on the Cast Lists page of the TMP website. Usually within 2-5 days of the callback date. Cast members will also receive an email with further instructions to confirm casting, submit bio’s, rehearsal schedules, etc.

Someone was not at the callback audition, but has been named on the cast list. How does that work?
Every now and then, TMP directors are able to cast a role directly off of an individual’s general audition without requiring a callback audition. If this individual was not needed to help facilitate the callbacks and establish a relationship with another role, then it is likely you would not see them in attendance.

When are the callback auditions?
Callback auditions are scheduled throughout the season per show, as needed. Invitations to the callbacks are usually emailed 1-2 weeks prior to the scheduled date. If you do not see the callback audition list posted here on the website, then no emails have been sent either. They happen simultaneously. 2010-11 Callback Auditions have been TENTATIVELY set for the following dates:

Hairspray: 8/2/2010
A Year With Frog & Toad TYA: TBD
White Christmas: 9/11/2010

General TMP & TCMT Audition Information:

Tacoma Musical Playhouse and the Tacoma Children's Musical Theater hold Season General Auditions for adults for the entire upcoming season once each year...usually in July. Callback auditions are then scheduled off of the Generals, as needed, throughout the year. Some roles may be cast directly off of the Generals without a Callback.

For the Season General Auditions, auditionees should prepare two contrasting songs from musical theater. Bring the sheet music in the correct key... an accompanist is provided. No a cappella or recorded accompaniment auditions. Auditions appointments should not exceed 5 minutes.

Occasionally, TMP and TCMT directors may elect to schedule additional auditions during the year as the need arises. These auditions will be posted on the TMP website first.

An appointment is required to audition at TMP. Auditions for Youth Roles on the Mainstage or the Tacoma Children's Musical Theater will be announced separately, as needed.
